After all the blogging I do on other people’s children, I realized I don’t post enough about my own babies- even though they dominate my Facebook and Instagram feed and the main “about” section of this blog. Of course I’m talking about my adorable Schnauzer (Sunny) and Boxer (Hilde’), my two best friends, the two things in life I’m actually responsible for, the happiest guys I know- even when I come home late and forget to feed them for 12 hours. They are both such good dogs; well mannered as long as other dogs or new people aren’t around, low-maintenance, and super loving.

Sunny is still his own little guy, doing the most random things like sleeping under my bed instead of on one of the 5 dog bed options he has; or staring at you so deeply and without losing eye contact you’re pretty sure he can see into your soul.

Hilde is my happy happy big girl who loves anyone who will look at her. She gets so excited over the simplest things, but especially treats and going places. I’ve never seen a dog move her booty like this one- you would never guess (minus the graying beard) this girl is nearing 70 years old!

Oh how I love you guys; my sweet little girl and boy. I hope you don’t hate me for keeping you inside all summer while mom’s at work; it’s too darn hot out and Sunny too crafty with his escape stunts.

And here’s one of their favorite things to do… Poor Hilde’- always having to let little brother win.

Spring is finally here!!! The weather was absolutely beautiful all weekend long and there’s something about the turning leaves and fragrant (although somewhat pollinated!) air that makes everything just a little… better.
Saturday we spent all day just enjoying being outside. From brunch at The House (see bloody mary on instagram), to an afternoon laying out in the park by the river, to grilling out at a friends house by the pool- every bit of it made me happy and renewed. The fact that the dogs were with us, that much better.

Welcome Spring, sure hope you decide to stay a while!

this is not animal abuse- he loves being thrown...

February is usually my least favorite month of the year, even though it’s my birthday month. It’s cold and dreary- I’m pale and puffy. However, this month has been the exception! I’ve been on this Dukan diet which is pretty much meat only, with a few spoonfuls of low-fat dairy. I’m in phase 2 so I can have veggies every other day and will soon enter phase 3 which is 2 cheat meals a week, some fruit, etc. I’ve already lost 5 lbs and can tell a noticeable difference in the way my clothes fit. I’ve also been going to the gym, running on the treadmill, and doing yoga pretty regularly so I feel really good!

Here’s a few healthy iPhone pics of the past month…

So i was wrong: not only did it snow- it blizzard-’ed’…! It started about 5 Christmas night and didn’t stop until we woke up this morning…

.

8-10″ is record-breaking in Central Arkansas and everything completely shuts down. Add 160,000 people with no power, and the snow becomes not such a pretty picture…
.

Crazy amount of snow! Hate that something so beautiful could cause so much destruction…:(

I’m one of the lucky ones- power stayed on and got to drive around and post pictures about it…

Dogs Lately

There is no question these dogs make my life a happier place. They are best friends to both each other and myself and I honestly don’t know what I would do without either of them!

Hilde is getting up there in age but you certainly wouldn’t know it by how active and excited she still gets. That dog wants to play at the drop of a bone (hardy har) or the slightest pitch increase… And Sunny- my little escape artist- is ALWAYS in trouble. He’s recently learned to squeeze his way out of this bow in my fence which requires him to bend his body over and under a rock retaining wall to get out. (I know that’s hard to picture but i haven’t caught him trying it on camera yet…) He also loves to get on my couch in the middle of the night- which he knows is off limits… I hear him jump off and crawl under the coffee table as I’m going into the bathroom each morning… To Sunny- rules are made to be broken!

I take so many pictures that they end up going to waste on my computer or taking up too much space on my iPhone. So I’m going to start doing monthly photo collages just for the sake of something to do!

Here are the kids from Sept1 to Oct 8th, 2012.
