A Blessed Easter

Yesterday was Easter and it coudln’t have been more beautiful to celebrate such an important day! We started off in Conway at another excellent Easter service at New Life Church, then ran by my moms to visit before heading to lunch at Broc’s parents in Little Rock. His good friend from highschool and his family joined us and it was great to have a kid around… hiding Easter eggs just isn’t the same without one of those. Dinner was amazing of course and Jill even broke out her famous Easter Bunny costume (or the head at least) to impress baby Alex. Not sure if he was impressed or confused though because he kept asking to take her mask off…. Can’t fool that kid!
Overall just a great day with family and friends who are such blessings to me.
Let every man and woman count himself immortal.  Let him catch the revelation of Jesus in his resurrection.  Let him say not merely, “Christ is risen,” but “I shall rise.”  ~Phillips Brooks

The Holidays are upon us! Last weekend was supposed to be full of parties- literally every day- but mother nature had different plans and blanketed our state with ice and snow. Everything was canceled and I was so disappointed! However the Friday night party was rescheduled for Wednesday night and it ended up being a great time. Tricia is the best host and decorator ever and this time was also the photographer! She didn’t get many pics of her home but it was sparkling from top to bottom with ribbons and sparkling Christmas cheer. The food was also quite impressive! Here are a few pics of the night…

Thankful!

Thursday and Friday were spent with family on multiple sides: my mother’s at my Aunt Linda’s; Broc’s parents and brother; and my father’s  in Conway. Needless to say we ate waaaay too much! It’s so great to spend time with all the people you love and are thankful for over the holidays. I am blessed beyond words and couldn’t ask for a better family. This is really what Thanksgiving is all about.

Friendsgiving

This holiday weekend started Wednesday night with a traditional “Friendsgiving” at Patrick’s house. Patrick and Anna are known for hosting great holiday parties (like this one for the 4th and this one on New Years) and they’re always a good time. I made some collard greens that turned out to be a bit tough but decent for my first time; there was so much food I doubt anyone really noticed.

Thankful for good friends this holiday season!

This extra long Thursday-Sunday weekend was completely dedicated to America’s 237th birthday, one of my top five favorite holidays for sure. We spent every day at the pool or lake and drank and ate like we were still in our 20′s. I even got to watch fireworks twice! Great times with great friends; loving life in this great country!

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.  ~Erma Bombeck
